Check out my new sculpture I carved titled “The Mind’s Eye”. It is carved in black obsidian (volcanic glass) H 15″ x W 12″ x D 5″ The pyramid, eye and base are one piece. The iris is about 6 1/2 inches in diameter and the cornea lens is polished to over 100,000 diamond grit and I was able to carve the back of the eye to a 1/8 inch (3mm) thick cornea lens! Then I carved a star burst pattern on the inside of the cornea to create the iris effect. The black volcanic glass is now transparent and allows the colored LED lights to make deep rich colors.
